Welcome
Our mission is to inspire future generations to improve our world through sustainable engineering.
DYF pursues this mission with the following goals:
- increasing k-12 student interest in studying engineering
- increasing retention of current engineering students
Increasing k-12 Interest in Studying Engineering
DYF Teacher Institutes
DYF Teacher Institutes are offered at Humboldt State University to provide support to k-12 teachers interested in incorporating engineering design into their instruction.
Increasing Retention at Humboldt State University
HSU faculty are developing new curricular and pedagogical approaches to first year engineering courses.
DYF at Regional High Schools
A previous focus of the program at Humboldt State University was partnering with regional high schools to offer high school students college credit for the HSU course ENGR 215: Introduction to Design. High school students take the course at their school with part of the course offered asynchronously online with HSU faculty.
